8 Bournville Cres, Claremont, Tasmania

The Clients brief was to extend their heritage listed 1920’s Californian Bungalow home with a contemporary open plan kitchen and living space to accommodate a young family. The design utilizes the qualities of the existing home to create a transition from the existing house formal planning arrangement to a contemporary open plan space. The windows were placed to capture sky and garden views and to extend the visual connection to the exterior.

The kitchen was made from prefabricated IKEA elements with a new stone benchtop and the owner assisted in painting to the external cladding to accommodate the small budget.
